Sports Academy
The Wilsonton State High School Sports Academy provides boys and girls with a program of excellence involving specialist teaching, community partnerships and access to state-wide competition.
We have a long tradition of basketball and rugby league excellence in Toowoomba. Students in these programs have the opportunity to meet and work with some of the elite players of the QBL and NRL.
All boys and girls who have an interest in basketball or rugby league are encouraged to apply for a position in one of the programs.
Each program has a Director who oversees the program and closely monitors student engagement.
A selection panel consisting of an Academy Director, Head of Department and Principal will determine students suitable for the program. Factors such as; previous experience, playing position, attendance and behaviour will form part of the selection criteria. Trials will take place and if successful, students will be enrolled in the relevant classes and invited to compete in various competitions.
Each program has a full pathway for boys and girls from Years 7-12.
